    Description

Japanese indigo (Persicaria tinctoria) leaves from my garden in Roanoke, VA.
Harvested by hand and sun-dried. No pesticides are used on my plants.
The dried leaves work with protein fibers, silk and wool and cellulose - cotton, linen, etc.
The indigo must be extracted from the dried leaves.
This method will require both Soda Ash and Thiourea Dioxide.
100 grams of leaves will dye approximately 10 ounces of goods to a medium shade.
I highly recommend John Marshall's book "Singing the Blues"!
